One of the most baffling results witnessed as a Liverpool fan. Back in 2005 we somehow failed to be crowned world champions.
In a game where we had three disallowed goals (at least one of them should have stood), hit the crossbar twice and had 17 corners we managed to lose to São Paulo of Brazil in the Final of the FIFA Club World Championship TOYOTA Cup Japan 2005 in Yokohama, Japan.
Brazilian midfielder Mineiro grabbed the goal to end a club record run of eleven consecutive clean sheets.
Statistic | São Paulo | Liverpool |
Goals | 1 | 0 |
Total shots | 4 | 21 |
Shots on target | 2 | 8 |
Possession | 47% | 53% |
Corners | 0 | 17 |
Still baffles me to this day.
